3. projekt Comenius

Termín: 18. - 24. november | Holandsko

Comenius Bardejov

The Netherlands is a country consisting of twelve provinces and three islands in the Caribbean. The capital of the Netherlands is Amsterdam. The Netherlands is a geographically low-lying country, with about 20% of it’s area located below sea level. This is also the reason why the Netherlands are called Nederland in Dutch. It literally means Low Countries. The Netherlands has got 16.788.973 citizens. Typical Dutch things are: Cheese, Mills, Clogs,

The Dutch humanist Carolus Clusius (1526-1609) is one of the most important European botanists of the sixteenth century. He is the author of innovative, internationally famous botanical publications, he introduced exotic plants such as the tulip and potato in the Netherlands, he was an advisor of princes and aristocrats in various European countries, professor and manager of the hortus botanicus in Leiden, and a central figure in a vast European network of exchanges.

The Carolus Clusius College is a Christian secondary school which is open to pupils from all denominations. There are about 1300 pupils who attend either vmbo (preparatory vocational education), havo ( senior general secondary education) or vwo (grammar school). Most pupils are from the city of Zwolle. Because the school is located within walking distance from the railwaystation many students from the surrounding area attend the school.

The Carolus Clusius College is a worldschool. The school is part of the international ELOS and Unesco affiliated schools networks. Pupils get enhanced education in the foreign languages and take part in international olympiads, conferences, contests, exchanges, study trips and so on. The school wants to prepare its pupils for a future in which they will increasingly be faced with an international learning and working environment.

In the lower forms the pupils take world subjects such as world of technology, world of the theatre and world of media, on top of the usual curriculum. They also get enhanced English. In the upper forms pupils can choose to follow an international course such as InterScience or InterHealth, on top of their chosen stream. There is a possibility to prepare for international certificates such as The Cambridge First Certificate of English and certificates from Delf Scolaire for French and Goethe Institute for German. Throughout their school career our pupils make contacts with fellow pupils from Europe and the rest of the world. Her

This country is in the middle of Europe. On an area of about 350.000 sqaure kilometres are living about 80,5 Million people. The capital of Germany and the centre of the political power is Berlin. This city is in the northeast of Germany. The president Joachim Gauck and the chancellor Angela Merkel have their domiciles there. These and all the other politicians govern our state in a parlamentary democracy. Germany has got 16 federal states and the one where we study is called Thuringia which is often referred to as the green heart of Germany .

Thuringia is a smaller federal state of Germany. On an area of about 16.000 square kilometres are just about 2 Million inhabitants. The capital is Erfurt but there is a city which is much better known. Weimar is famous because the two poets Goethe and Schiller lived an worked there. In their honor the city has got a bronze monument in front of the German National Theatre.

You can find the town with our school in the north of Thuringia. Bad Frankenhausen is a really small town in the Kyffhäuserkreis-region. This town has a long and old history. In the 16th century the peasans' war took place in this area. At this time 60.000 farmers lost their lives. The way to the battlefield is known as the blood channel even today. In 1650 the first note of the leaning churchtower appeared in the history books. The process of leaning to one side has been continuing ever since. The reason for it's leaning are both the complicated geology and a saltmine under the city. Water came in this hole washed the salt out of the ground. For this reason the town is a saltmining location. Today the salt is used for healing processes in the SPA or they win some salt to show people how it was made in earlier centuries.

Not very far from the monument reminding us of one of the peasants’ leader and also reverend Müntzer you will find Kyffhäuser Gymnasium, currently counting about 590 pupils taught by 43 teachers. More than half the students come from the villages around. The school is currently on two sites, one near Unterkirche and one in Klosterstraße. The school near Unterkirche is for those doing their first two years at school, the remaining bigger crowd attends the building in Klosterstraße.

Students do two languages. Apart from English they can either choose French, Russian or Latin.

Our European dimension.

Year 7 and 8 go to London every year. This is our second Comenius project, after having done our first one with partners from Castel Ritaldi and Spoleto both in Italy, Evesham in England and Soucieu en Jarrest in France.

The school has two very famous students indeed. Christa Wolff a famous novelist and Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medal winner Nils Schumann 400m flat in athletics.

Italy is a parliamentary republic in Southern Europe. It consists of the Italian Peninsula and the two biggest Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Italian territory also includes the islands of Pantelleria, east of the Tunisian coast and Lampedusa, at about 113 km from Tunisia and at 176 km from Sicily, in addition to many other smaller islands. The sovereign states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within Italy, while Campione d'Italia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland.

The country's total area is 301,230 square kilometers and the coastline is 7,600 kilometres; there are about 60 million inhabitants. The Apennine Mountains form the peninsula's backbone and the Alps form most of its northern boundary, where Italy's highest point is located on Mont Blanc (4,810 m).

Italy's capital and largest city, Rome, has for centuries been the leading political and religious centre of Western civilisation, serving as the capital of both the Roman Empire and Christianity.

Italy became a republic after a referendum held on 2nd June 1946, a day celebrated since as Republic Day.

Italy's official language is Italian but there are also numerous idioms spoken all over the country.

Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots as far back as the 4th century

Italian cuisine is characterized by its simplicity, with many dishes having only four to eight ingredients and relies chiefly on the quality of the ingredients rather than on elaborate preparation.

Ingredients and dishes vary by region but Italian cuisine usually includes pasta , cheese, wine, coffee, olive oil, pizza, fish, cakes, etc.

Sweden, the center of Scandinavia, has more than 9 million habitants. The capital city is called Stockholm and it is located in the middle of the country and has about 1.5 million citizens in the urban. area.

The country is a constitutional monarchy which means the monarch acts as the head of state but the source of power belongs to the government. Sweden is also known for its wonderful landscape with the astounding Aurora Borealis in the north, the beautiful west coast near Gothenburg and in general, a lot of unaffected woodland and lakes.

Södertälje is a city nearby Stockholm with about 80 thousand people in it. The city is known for being a successful sports orientated town with top clubs in sports like football, basketball, volleyball and ice hockey. A lot of successful athletes has been raised in different sport clubs, for example Björn Borg(tennis), Erik Karlsson(NHL), Sara Sjöström(swimming).

The city is receiving lots of immigrants especially from the middle-east. The year 2007 Södertälje took in more people from Iraq then USA and Canada together. Two big companies make up for a big part of the industry in Södertälje and gives the people in the city a place to work, that’s Astra Zeneca and Scania. Astra is producing medicine and Scania is designing/producing trucks.

Täljegymnasiet is a new school/highschool started in central Södertälje. This school merged with two other schools called Igelstavikens gymnasium and Liljevalchs gymnasium. Täljegymnasiet is investing time and money on the school athletes because the students in this school are elite players, some of them are playing in the youth national teams in sports. Especially the basketball playing students have a lot of success in tournaments and the youth Swedish championships.

This school has approximately 650 students, in the school area there is Täljegymnasiet which has a regular and a sports orientated program and another school for people with special needs called Focault Gymnasium. You can choose between three different programs, social, science or economics. The school building is an old and impressive building built in 1912.

The students at the school can hang out in a cafeteria, study in a place called “studycenter” or the library. We also have the privilege that our school is centered in the middle of the city so we have a walking distance to the town and different sports facilities.

The Slovak Republic (or, in short form, Slovakia), is a landlocked state in Central Europe. It has a population of over five million and an area of about 49,000 square kilometres (19,000 sq mi). Slovakia is bordered by the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south. The largest city is the capital, Bratislava, and the second largest is Košice. Slovakia is a member state of the European Union, NATO, United Nations, OECD and WTO among others. The official language is Slovak, a member of the Slavic language family.

Slovakia is a high-income advanced economy with one of the fastest growth rates in the European Union and the OECD. The country joined the European Union in 2004 and the Eurozone on 1 January 2009. Slovakia, together with Estonia, Latvia, and Slovenia are the only former Communist states to be part of the European Union, Eurozone, Schengen Area, and NATO simultaneously.

Our school is the biggest secondary school in town. It has pproximately 650 students and it is situated in the centre of Bardejov (north-eastern Slovakia) not far from the historical square.

The school has two sections – the grammar school (called “gymnazium”), which is smaller and the polytechnic school, which is bigger. In the polytechnic section, there are only male students who want to become car mechanics, builders, machine operators for the engineering industry, IT network administrators, etc.

In the grammar school, there are boys and girls who prepare for studies at university. Only students from the grammar school are participating in this Comenius project.

The school has its own canteen where students can have cooked lunch, there is also a gym, a football pitch, a snack bar, 4 IT labs, 1 Chemistry lab, 1 Physics lab, 1 Biology lab, 1 Geography lab, etc. The school also has its own folklore group, school radio and a magazine published monthly. We have already participated in two Comenius projects with schools in Spain, Germany, Romania and Poland.

V projekte budú nasledovné oblasti: informačné a komunikačné technológie, vzdelávanie v oblasti kultúry a umenia, občianskej náuky, jazykov, histórie, herectva, štatistiky (matematika) a sociálnych vied.

Komunikácia medzi partnermi bude prebiehať cez e-mail a e-twinning.
